The author has great fantasy and creates stories that are very different. Actually, the villain's identity is generally revealed very soon in the type of story in which you wonder how Annie will catch him.Stephen Christopher 1 wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024, 23:49 Oh, I love extended series, so as much as I want to read this book, I'm going to need to start from book 1, hehe. Annie Steele sounds like a great character. By book 7 are the ideas still fresh though? I mean, is it getting easier to predict the killer, etc?

Oh right, June Gillam who writes the 'House Of...' series does the same. For the first book I rated it 4/5 stars because of that, but by the second back I caught on to the concept and I liked it. I am though a huge fan of the 'whodunnit' and trying to guess the killer before the hero does.NetMassimo wrote: ↑13 Feb 2024, 02:30The author has great fantasy and creates stories that are very different. I know Patricia Cornwell for her novels featuring Kay Scarpetta, who is a forensic medical examiner while Annie Steele is a cop turned private investigator, so there are differences while there are murders for sure in both series of novels. Thank you for yor comment!Mari Thompson wrote: ↑13 Mar 2024, 15:41 I’ve never heard of Annie Steele before. My favorite author is Patricia Cornwell and these Annie Steele books sound like they could be similar with all the drama, thrill, and murder. Great review. I will have to check out these books. Thanks for the recommendation.

the Covid Murders" by Greg Vigdor is a captivating thriller that intertwines the anxiety-inducing atmosphere of a global pandemic with a riveting murder mystery.

It was a pleasure to read this review, so clear and straightforward. I do enjoy suspenseful thrillers with lots of action. However, it's such a shame about the editing. It's always disappointing, especially considering that many authors invest a lot of money in having their manuscripts proofread and edited. Have a lovely day, Massimo!NetMassimo wrote: ↑14 Nov 2023, 09:13 [Following is a volunteer review of "Three Bullets" by Charles Alexander.]
Three Bullets by Charles Alexander is the seventh Annie Steele novel. When Annie Steele receives news that her boyfriend Nick got shot and is in critical condition, she flies from Los Angeles to New York just to discover that Nick died. The fact that Nick's brother died just one day before he got shot becomes suspicious even if cops have reason to think that Nick was killed by a serial killer known as the Undertaker while his brother died in a car accident, at least officially. Grief-stricken, Annie decides to investigate on her own just to discover that there's much more than she could imagine behind Nick's murder, which puts her in grave danger.
Reviewing the first two Annie Steele thrillers was a positive experience for me because Charles Alexander showed he could write complex plots full of action and twists that kept my interest very high until the end of each of them. Developing new ideas to avoid becoming repetitive isn't easy for a writer, so I'm happy to see that he was successful.
Annie Steele was originally introduced as an LAPD motorcycle cop who later became a private investigator. This novel starts with Annie being involved in some events that show that she has contacts in very high places and her extraordinary skills. Even if you haven't read the previous novels in this series, there are explanations about all of that, so this novel's beginning works as a sort of introduction to Annie.
I appreciated how Charles Alexander developed another great plot that turned what started as a murder investigation into something much bigger. It takes a while for Annie to understand what's at stake during an investigation in which many people seem to want to kill her. That creates a lot of tension throughout this novel with Annie feeling strong emotions such as grief, rage, and frustration when her efforts get hindered.
There are more than 10 errors in the book that didn't detract from my enjoyment. However, due to their number, I have to rate it 4 out of 5 stars even if there's nothing I dislike about it. If you like suspenseful thrillers full of action like a rollercoaster, I recommend Three Bullets. If you like long series of books of this type, I recommend reading all Annie Steele novels. Note that they're targeted at grown-ups due to some explicit sex bits and some violent content.

Editing is my only real complain about Charles Alexander after enjoying some of his novels very much. Thank you for commenting!Claudia Angelucci wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 14:35
