The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci: (Out of Time Thriller, #1)
Because The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.
Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.
This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

I thought the title and cover of this book were interesting but I wasn't sure I would enjoy it, since it is listed under the C/T/M/H category. The blurb mentioned mysterious art and visions of the past. The editorial and customer reviews were all positive so I think I would have sampled this book even if it was not part of the First Ten program. The sample failed to impress me. We meet a young lady on an internship struggling to cope with her new boss and also having troubles sleeping. I thought nothing exciting happened in the sample. Nothing gave me the urge to read on. I found no errors within the sample but the story itself felt too slow for my liking. Despite the praise it received in the OBC review, I have decided not to read the rest of this book.

I hardly ever read historical fiction novels or stories about any of the World Wars. So, I wouldn't have picked this book up based on the cover, the title and the OBC review. As for the sample, I didn't enjoy reading it, as I found it slow-paced and overly descriptive. I haven't read enough to comment on the characters of Sophia and Gerhard yet. I'm not going to read the rest of the book because of my lack of interest in the genre and the story. I didn't read the Amazon blurb, other editorial or customer reviews to make my decision.
The cover design is aesthetic and attractive and will pique the interest of those who love reading historical fiction novels. Moreover, the book seems professionally edited, as I didn't encounter any errors in the book. I've no suggestions for improvement to offer.

I had a chance to read the first ten pages of this book, The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci, after downloading a sample from Amazon. I enjoyed reading a sample of this book. The book opens with a tale of a character called Sophia Caro, who was scared, but not half as scared as she should be. Sophia is in love with a German officer. The name of this German officer is also given in the same section of the book. In my opinion, this book is fine the way it is and doesn’t need any kind of improvement. There were no grammatical or spelling errors in the book. The book seems to have passed through the hands of a professional editor. The cover was the feature that I liked the most in the first ten pages that I sampled. I liked how it was beautiful. There was no feature of this book that I didn’t like in the first few pages that I read. I love fiction stories. I’ll therefore purchase and finish reading this book. I also read the official review of this book that was available on the OBC website. The review was insightful. My decision to purchase and finish reading the book was because of its genre. The cover and the official review had no bearing on my decision. I would recommend this book to other fictional lovers. It seems like an enjoyable book.

The cover is excellent; the design is so detailed, and the red color is eye-catching. So yes, I would have been interested in reading this book outside the program. However, the first scene is not narrated in detail. The book begins with Sophia and Gerhard, and I did not understand what was going on ― there is no detailed description of where they are. Therefore, I have decided not to purchase this book. I did not find errors. Nothing positive to mention. I would have liked the first scene to be more detailed. The official review on OBC helped me make up my mind.

I read the first ten pages of this book, The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci, after downloading a sample. In the opening pages of this book, we are introduced to Sophia Caro. She was scared, but not half as scared as she should be. Moreover, in the same section of the book, we learn that the world was at war and she was in love with a German officer. The element that I loved the most in the few pages that I read was the cover. In my opinion, it was wonderfully designed. There was no element I didn’t like in the first ten pages that I read. The editing seems to have been done by a professional, as there were no errors in the first few pages I read. The official review of this book is available on the OBC website. The review gives a detailed summary of the book. I don’t read fiction books. I will not therefore purchase and finish reading this book. I would recommend it to readers who appreciate fictional novels with a mix of mystery. My decision not to purchase and finish reading this book was based on its genre. The cover and the official review had no impact on my decision. In my opinion, this book seems to be well-written and edited, and there’s no need for further improvement.

After I read the description, I thought that the premise was interesting. In the sample, I liked how it began with two young lovers in 1944. There was bombing everywhere, and a man and a woman were hiding. I typically love stories set during the war, so I thought I might want to give this book a chance. I can't wait to discover more about the mysterious painting. The text seemed like it had gone through professional editing. I didn't find any errors or aspects that I didn't like. I also don't have any improvements to suggest. The OBC review also helped with my decision.

I don't know much about Da Vinci, so just going off
the book title I would have never sampled this book. I read the required 10 pages and fell in love with this story. Unfortunately, due to finding out about this being a time-jumping book from the OBC official review, I'm going to pass. From what I've read so far, I do not like Angela's boss, Mr. Scordato, due to him being an immoral person who lies, steals, and makes the workplace uncomfortable for women. I found no errors or anything I dislike about this book.

The book has a gripping start, as my mind has already begun spinning theories based on the description, review and sample. I am intrigued to know how Sophie and Gerhard make it and more about Angela’s journey. The book is professionally edited. I would’ve sampled this book regardless of the program, as I am a massive fan of the C/T/M/H genre. Moreover, the cover and description gave me the vibe of Dan Brown’s storytelling style, which further intrigued me.

The cover, the blurb, the title, and the reviews wouldn’t have gotten me to read this book. The reason is I do not fancy art and do not know anything about Leonardo da Vinci to pique my interest. Unfortunately, after reading the first ten pages of this work, my mind remains unchanged. This bit does not have enough juice to get me past my mentality of art and its history. The first ten pages of this title have been exceptionally edited; to me, this is the book’s most likable attribute. I saw an OBC review of this read, but it did not influence my decision. Therefore, I have no suggestions for improvements.

It seems like this book will tell of an endearing love story between Sophia and Gerhard. I love stories of love, but I probably would not have sampled this book based on the cover and title if I had not been part of this program. But the first ten pages revealed the genre and hopefully a beautiful love story. I like that the book starts with that, even in the violent blast of a city at war. She is also pregnant, and that just made the story even more interesting to me. Based on the first ten pages, I will read the rest of the book; I have, in any event, downloaded it for free from Kindle unlimited. I will not be reading any other reviews such as OBC, customer or editorial reviews or blurbs, as the first ten pages were enough to convince me to read the book in full when I am ready to do so.

I would have sampled this book based on its cover, title, blurb, genre, or reviews; the book sounds interesting and like something I might enjoy. I liked the first ten pages well enough. I liked the way the mystery of Angela's dreams was set up; there was just enough suspense to make me curious. And indeed I want to know more. I will read the rest of the book because I want to see how this mystery unfolds, and how the prologue ties into the rest of the story. I’m glad to say I didn’t find any errors, and there was nothing I disliked about the bit I read. The OBC review was helpful because I got the impression that the story in its entirety makes for a fantastic, absorbing read; I love that it features romance, too!

I like this book because it starts on a high note, and I like Angela as a character. I have no reason to hate this book because the author did an amazing job putting it together. Also, the book has no errors based on the first ten pages.
Reading OBC reviews greatly influenced my decision because the reviews are well-written and give one the urge to read the book. If I weren't part of the program, I would still read the book because the customer's reviews are enchanting and motivate one to read the book.
To conclude, I will read the whole book to explore more about Angela and the art painting.

I was immediately intrigued by the title and cover of “The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci.” I am interested in art and appreciate Da Vinci’s work. The book is a historical fiction/romance novel, a genre I enjoy reading. The blurb and OBC review identified some plot points that interest me in reading the sample. I am particularly excited about the changing setting and period of history throughout the book. This style keeps the plot exciting.
I found one borderline error in the text where a sentence has an added word. For example, “It’s been so disruptive that I’m keeping a journal to help track of my dreams and how often I wake up throughout the night.” The text should read, “…help track my dreams…” or “…help keep track of my dreams.” I enjoyed the changing point of view with new settings and a new period of history. I disliked finding the error in the text but enjoyed every other aspect of the sample. My only recommendation is more thorough editing. I enjoy the topics and genre of this book, so I will continue reading this novel!

If it weren't for this program, I would not have chosen to read this book based on the cover, title, genre, blurb or the customer reviews. The sample needs no modifications and was professionally edited.
I liked how intense the first pages were. We had no idea if Sophia and her mate would survive. The official OnlineBookClub review was a positive one but did not persuade me to read this book. I won't be reading this book because I am not interested in reading about Da Vinci.

The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci: (Out of Time Thriller, #1) by by Belle Ami belongs to the C/T/M/H genre, which I love to read. The title and the cover page piqued my interest. The blurb revealed that this was a story about a historical painting and a girl who had visions related to the ancient past. The editorial reviews and the customer reviews highly appreciated the book. I would have sampled this book based on the above facts even if I had not been a part of this program.
Then I read the first ten pages, which described how two love birds flew during the World War while carrying a priceless painting. I loved the author's writing style, and I love when historical facts are connected with fictional stories. So, after reading the first ten pages I decided to buy and read the whole book.
I did not see any errors in the first ten pages, and I did not see any area that could be improved. I saw the official OBC review. It highly appreciated the book, and it supported my decision as well.

Originally, the cover and title would not have drawn me in because I assumed the book focused on art and art history which does not interest me, but the blurb and customer reviews would have convinced me to give it a chance, even outside this program. After reading the sample, I would be excited to continue reading. I loved that the mystery and suspense begins almost immediately with us learning that Angela is having strange dreams and her boss is an awful guy. I also enjoyed the presence of two connecting timelines. There was nothing to improve, and I found no errors in what I read. The OBC review helped me decide that the I would enjoy the rest of the book as much as I enjoyed the sample!

Total ~ 63%
The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci earned a score of 63%.
In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 63% plan to read the whole book.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.
Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
