Escape as the title entails is about a spy and a kidnapped Jewish-American student trying to get out of Iran before they can get caught by their pursuers and avoid annihilation. It gives us insight on a discordant middle East.
It is an action packed and romance based book that is plotted in America, Israel and mostly Iran. It has engrossing action scenes that make it easy to forget it is a romance book and yet the intensity of the romance scenes once they interject leave you all the more captivated.
The reference from the book whereby it is said that blessings can out of the worst situations can be used to describe what the book is about. Even though these people are stuck in a rather dangerous situation, something beautiful, much of a blessing really, flourishes and this is love.
The book highlights quite a number of themes of which love is predominant of them all. We see attraction and list rapidly develop into deeper, more intimate feelings of love and caring. Betrayal is yet another theme that is portrayed in the book and it foreshadows vengeance which only comes to light towards the end of the book. We also see a lot of corruption being displayed throughout the book.
The use of a third point of view provides insight on the state of mind of both main characters and it is easy to relate where the book is heading. The sentences are so well constructed that they are understandable. Also the ideas and themes are expanded thoroughly in such a manner that the book is enjoyable. I especially loved the little touches of Arabic that the author encompassed throughout the book.
The book has a capturing element that is unexplainable. This is brought about by the fact that the two people brought together are so different and yet they are able to put aside those differences and work together. A fierce, stubborn student who takes orders from no one and a man who loves giving orders, they make for interesting and entertaining conversations. Or it could be due to the nimble development of the story.
Escape is a great book and it would appeal to both romance and action book readers. Also the book is perfect for people looking to try a different genre,it is of satisfactory quality. I rate the book a 4 out of 4 stars because I really enjoyed reading it.
