I think I was six. I was placed in the second group chosen to begin reading. I worked hard on reading with my mom until I got moved to the first group. I have been a voracious reader every since.
Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.

I learned to read when I was pretty young. My parents would read me to bed at night and I just really got into it.
