In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes is a small but very wide peek from a third-person perspective of our lives. The author begins by soothing the readers, accepting them as they are, and not demanding their change throughout the book. Even opposite, throughout the chapters, he teaches us to welcome our real selves, as we spiritually are, and hence be free. The topic opens with the subject of struggle. Eckhart mentioned the starving children, suffering daily, followed by the idea that we are not cruel not to help them because we struggle to help ourselves as well. He separates our two identities, one—our spirits—and the other—our bodies, disguised as an accessory. The author talks of the self-defining and non-defining traits, how each person struggles by themselves, but how this struggle is common for everyone, uniting us all. He gave a great example of flowers in a garden to illustrate the idea. At last, he attempts to teach us how to free ourselves, and the book ends in a beautiful and emotional tone.

Eckhart presented a lot of unique and mind-piquing ideas. Some of my favorites were: “When the ego weeps for what it has lost, the spirit rejoices for what it has found” and "As an apple tree apples, the universe peoples. As an individual human being, you are something the universe is doing." The book felt very personal, completely stripping me of my possessions and reconstructing me into the real me. It was very adventurous and intimate. I feel like a new person. Eckhart's ideas are philosophical yet explained simply, which enhances the book's performance and understandability. The author has a great ability to demonstrate and keep his readers present, as he makes sure to incorporate common human beliefs at the right time, continually intriguing the reader. He also uses humor in high-pressure discussions, lightening the mood. He motivates the readers to be more like themselves, offers advice and support, and gives a great view of the bigger picture. Every one of us is truly in this together. Eckhart has made a great point and given an important reminder to the people overly busy with everyday minuscule problems. Overall, the book was exceptionally edited, as I detected no errors.

There was only one confusing sentence in the book. "Even a god can accidentally create a hell with a population of one: himself." As a Christian, I have very controversial thoughts about this quote and highly doubt its possible occurrence.

Overall, I strongly agree with the author’s discussion except for the abovementioned quote. I took valuable lessons from this book and got an interesting perspective on life. This book is worth reading by any adult to learn more about consciousness and other presented ideas. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars for its immensely valuable content and great delivery. There was nothing objective to dislike, and my concern is a subjective Christian outlook. The author might've had other intentions with it, which I couldn't understand, so I am not deducting any points. The book is perfect and should be appreciated accordingly.
