Review of In It Together
In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes is a beautiful book that guides us on our life journey to discover our spiritual selves and uncover the unconditional love and kindness that lie deep within us. At the beginning of the book, the author illustrates how our inner spirits share a common struggle that connects all humans, despite our outward differences. He encourages readers to approach the book with an open mind to become free-spirited human beings, embrace spiritual freedom, and fully be themselves. If you are interested in exploring profound spiritual truths, connecting with your inner self, and living a content and peaceful life, I highly recommend this book.
The author stresses the importance of kindness and empathy—qualities that seem to be fading in today's world. By stating the temporary nature of worldly possessions, he makes us realize that we are not defined by transient things like money, titles, names, or even memories. He then strips away these external identities and reveals our true self, which is consciousness.
The author highlights the significance of self-love, urging us to embrace our past, present, and future selves unconditionally. Loving ourselves allows us to understand our true selves, be kind and honest with ourselves, take care of our well-being, and break free from harmful addictions. He encourages us to accept ourselves fully and to love ourselves unconditionally. While this may be challenging for some, embracing this concept can truly transform one's life. He also advises us to accept what is beyond our control. This is a principle I have been striving to follow in my life. I appreciated how the author gradually transitions from the theme of self-love to loving others.
The author emphasizes self-discipline and resisting temptations, which are crucial for our personal growth. He urges us to let go of hatred and to forgive others. He also asks us to embrace the present moment. As the author says, the goals in your life should help you in your life journey and not be a constraint to your happiness. All of these practices are essential for maintaining our inner peace.
I adored the book cover—it’s simple yet attractive. Also, I found the opening question to be very intriguing and thought-provoking. Likewise, I loved the author's writing style, which is conversational and engaging rather than preachy. This book has deep meaning and is not meant to be read just once; every time you read it, you'll discover something new and gain a different perspective. As a fan of quotes, I truly enjoyed the various quotes included in the book. While this book explores a range of spiritual truths, it is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to readers from all religious backgrounds, as well as those who do not subscribe to any belief system.
The book discusses many important virtues, including unconditional love, kindness, gratitude, and forgiveness. When I imagine a world filled with such virtues, I can feel how wonderful living in such a world will be. I sincerely hope that our world is filled with love and kindness, uniting us in our beautiful struggles. I wish for us to achieve spiritual freedom and self-discipline, which would allow us to appreciate the beauty in the world around us. I thoroughly enjoyed the reading experience and did not find anything to dislike. The book is professionally edited, and I did not notice any mistakes. Therefore, I would love to rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
