“In It Together” by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes is a philosophical book that explains the intricate issues surrounding human existence. It starts by analyzing human reactions to the people. Through the pictorial depiction of starving and helpless countries, the author explains empathy and love through the unique responses of people in different locations.

It explains that humans are not defined by the physical fabric of their lives but by their true selves. He analyzes the concepts of philosophical zombies, time machines, the present self, and the future self. Love, anger, hatred, kindness, forgiveness, and selfishness

The narrative of a philosophical zombie explains conscious and unconscious love. The argument about the existence of evil is enlightening and insightful. It describes the origin of evil and the reasons behind the belief that evil does not exist. The description of faith and the existence of a higher being resonates well with me. It is knowledgeable and eye-opening.

What I appreciate most about the book is the free spirit it embodies. Though philosophical, it is not utterly persuasive. It allows readers to listen to their spirit and draw unique conclusions. The narration is educative, insightful, expository, enlightening, and descriptive. The title is a positive aspect of the book. It welcomes the reader to view the issues from a different perspective.

Though I do not dislike the ideas in the book, I find some hard to accept, especially the absence of evil in the world. This lack of belief does not affect my enjoyment of the book. There are no negative aspects to the book. I would rate “In It Together” by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes 5 out of 5 stars. There is nothing that could make me deduct a point from the rating. I recommend the book to young adults. Philosophical minds will find the book enlightening.

I would love to comment that the religious discussions in the book do not make it related to a particular religion. The arguments are open, and every reader will benefit from them.
