Review of First Survivor

“First Survivor” by Mark Unger is a book about Louis, the author's young son, who was very sick with a bad kind of cancer when he was just three years old. The cancer had spread to his brain, making things look really tough. But Louis didn't face it alone; his family, doctors, and friends all worked together to help him get better. The next seven years were really hard, with lots of tough treatments. But each one brought Louis closer to beating the cancer. And in the end, he did! He won an amazing victory and got to go into remission.
This book tells the story of the Unger family's tough journey as they dealt with their son's cancer treatment. They faced many challenges, felt hopeful and sad at times, and were surrounded by people who cared about them. Mark Unger's story shows how strong families can be and how much love can help people get through hard times. The book also shows how cancer affects a child and their family, both physically and emotionally.
