Review of In It Together
In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes is a philosophical book that discusses the common struggles of many people in the world. The book touched on love, freedom, and the concept of heaven. The book is filled with wisdom and tasks readers to think deeper than usual.
While reading this book, the themes I mentioned above were the ones that resonated with me most. In his discussions, he quoted many known philosophers and thought leaders, like Ram Dass, to whom he opened the book with one of his quotes. There are others like Chuang Tzu, Jesus Christ, Voltairine de Cleyre (his favorite author), Shakespeare, Sam Harris, and others.
The book generally elaborates on the common struggle every human being fights. A struggle the author perceived to be more spiritual than physical. The purpose is to identify this struggle, elaborate on it, and offer a strategy we can all use to win this war that plagues all humanity.
What I read in this book is all but the truth. The world hates love. We are helpless to the extent that we can't even help ourselves talkless of helping others. The concept of The Two Yous is actually on point. The Two Yous simply means your soul and your body. In extension, this is also true for good and bad, right and wrong, light and darkness, all of which are inherent in humans. This can also be attributed to why evil cannot be eliminated in this world. In each person lies the ability to do evil and good. If this concept does not exist, the world would just be a zombie empire.
I love the discussion on heaven. However, I held a different view. I believe there is heaven on earth. This is the world you created for yourself. However, I also believe that there is life after death, which could be either hell or heaven. I don't need to live in fear of hell; it is just an intentional consciousness I have to coordinate how I live my life on earth. The question is, what if there is a place called Heaven and Hell? What would you do if you didn't believe in it now? What will you lose if you believe there is a place called Heaven and Hell and eventually they don't exist?
This book has changed how I think and helped me think and see the world in a deeper-than-usual way. I found no errors while reading In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All, and I dislike nothing in it. The book has a comic undertone, and at times, it might get boring. Overall, it is a fascinating read. Based on my assessment above, I will rate the book 5 out of 5 stars[b/].

It preaches and emphasizes love, that's good.
