"In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All” is a philosophical piece by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes that tries to look deeper into the issues of struggle, the search for life’s meaning, and the concept of self-discipline. Hughes’ main point is to teach readers that they should take pleasure in the present and can suffer through present pain that results in future joy or can enjoy present happiness. The recommendations given at the end of the book are helpful: people should be happy with who they are and what they have instead of resenting the current struggle in their efforts to achieve their future dreams.

Hughes starts the book with one of the most horrible realizations of the essence of man and his evil self-interests in contemporary society. The negative traits are most shocking, and there are ways he provides to alter such character, indicating how a humane society can be built. One quote deeply impressed me: “The beautiful heaven you may see is the heaven you carry with you, and in a way, that beautiful heaven is you.” This speaks to the fact that heaven is not a destination we are to reach but a state of existence that can be achieved when people accept themselves and others and feel love towards themselves and others.

The only drawback I experienced was that the beginning was rather difficult for me, as many philosophical ideas were expressed in the book. Sometimes, they puzzled me, and I had to re-read the text to understand them. However, I do not possess a propensity for philosophy, so this was not the negative aspect that reduced the book's enjoyment and must be counted more as a criticism of the author than the book.

Hence, my honest and genuine assessment of this book is 5 out of 5 stars because the relatively small issue with the beginning did not affect my pleasure or the effect that the book created on me. The last shot of the book is very inspiring, and it seems that everything starts to make sense or falls into place. Furthermore, the book's writing and overall presentation are excellent. I could not find any grammatical mistakes using this book as a reference.

I encourage readers to read “In It Together." It can make you the best version of yourself, thus changing your disposition to love the real you as you embrace yourself. This is recommended for people who want to change their way of life and embrace who they are.
