Review of In It Together
In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes talks about the difficulties people face and the quest for peace and spiritual freedom. The author advises readers to find happiness and satisfaction now, whether it means enduring current problems for future happiness or simply enjoying current moments of joy. The book ends with helpful ideas to help readers value where they are now and see their own beauty and happiness, rather than being unhappy about challenges while striving for future goals.
This book starts with simple but important questions and explores deep and interesting ideas. It examines why we sometimes have the power to relieve suffering but don't use it. The book begins by discussing our true selves versus the images we present to others, which leads to a philosophical journey about what truly defines us. You might be surprised to learn that the qualities that define you in one situation may not reflect your true identity. Reading this book is like uncovering layers of thought about yourself, self-control, and ultimately, happiness. I recommend exploring the concept of 'Temporal Unity of Selves', which emphasizes the importance of taking care of yourself over time by appreciating who you have been and who you will become.
This book is packed with valuable lessons, wisdom, and knowledge, which is why I enjoyed it so much. It's written in a clear and familiar style that makes it easy to understand, thanks to the author's clever writing. One important lesson is that doing less can often be better. Focusing on fewer tasks can lead to better performance and prevent burnout compared to trying to do everything. Someone who prioritizes quality over quantity often achieves more than those who take on too much. In my experience, trying to do too much often leads to accomplishing nothing. Sometimes, it's better to succeed in one thing than to fail in many. It's smart to make fewer promises but to follow through on the ones you do make, as making too many promises can lead to disappointment.
I have no criticisms of this insightful book on positive thinking. Hughes clearly had his readers in mind while writing it. I also didn't find any mistakes in the book, which shows it was well-edited. That's why I give it a perfect 5-star rating.
