Review of In It Together
In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes is a life-changing book with a beautiful message. It unites the readers, focusing on their common struggles, and spreads the message of self-love and self-acceptance. In the book, self-discipline is used interchangeably with spiritual freedom quite often. The author imparts wisdom from philosophers like Voltairine de Cleyre, Friedrich Nietzsche, René Descartes, and the teachings of Jesus, Gandhi, etc. If read earnestly, this book will lead you on a transformative journey, unlike any other inspirational book. The author begins by talking about the sufferings in the world and holds your hand through this beautiful journey where you discover the distinction between the real you and the false self, the misery-inducing words that are the root cause of all suffering, and the knowledge that you can achieve true love and inner peace by unconditionally accepting and loving everyone and everything. The author also discusses debate-worthy topics when he says, "There is no problem of evil because there is no evil." Once you have read the whole book, you will understand and accept this undeniable truth. This extraordinary book concludes with Hughes' 11 numbered suggestions that will help you instantly achieve invincible inner peace and happiness.
The author's exquisite writing style is a treasure trove of philosophical wisdom. The advice and suggestions offered are effortlessly easy to implement, starting from the present moment. The best aspect is that all of the suggestions are incredibly easy, and having followed them, I see and feel the difference it has created in my life. It is a remarkable book that has the potential to alter your life, especially how you think, respond to people, and handle situations. Having worked with Hughes, I can attest that the teachings in the book are not mere platitudes; I've seen him put them into practice in his daily interactions with people. I appreciated various aspects of this book, especially the author's unique way of looking at things. There are several pivotal moments and soul-touching quotes you will come across; the one that truly touched me was: "With the human body that you happen to find yourself wearing, feel free to literally walk over to the mirror right now and tell that human, ego and all, primitive urges and all, "I accept you. I unconditionally accept each and every part of you. In fact, I love you. I unconditionally love each and every part of you, in part and in whole.""
The initial few chapters of the book may appear slightly complex at first, especially if you are a novice philosopher like me. However, if you are patient and invest some time, you will quickly discover the incredible power this book can have on your life. There is absolutely nothing I disliked in the book.
The positives I have listed above do not even come close to a complete list. In It Together will change how you look at life, people, and situations, how you treat the beautiful real you within, and how you respond to bodily feelings like pain, discomfort, fear, etc. I discovered this book right before one of the most painful and difficult phases of my life. I can honestly say that I am so glad I did because it made dealing with the loss and dealing with conflicts and stressful situations easier. I gladly rate this incredible book 5 out of 5 stars.
I highly recommend In It Together to anyone looking for spiritual understanding, meaningful success, true inner peace, and pure happiness. Are you one of those who constantly wonder, "What should I do in this situation?" Or are you someone who resents their past self or something you or someone else did in the past? Do you think things should not have happened the way they did? Are you afraid to step out of your comfort zone? Do you always try to do your best but are unsuccessful? If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, I urge you to read this book.
