"To live is to suffer." Some may be aware of this quote from Nietzsche or not. However, is it really the case? As human beings, we often have unfulfilled dreams and desires and go through suffering that is, ironically, caused by the same desires we have. Eckhart Aurelius Hughes, in his book "In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All," shares his thoughts about this in what he calls "the human condition," as well as many other things like true love and the nature of self. He explains, for example, that true inner peace comes from stopping the fight against oneself. On that note, he says (paraphrased from Page 121), "By embracing and accepting reality as it is, one (we) can achieve spiritual freedom and transcend the cycle of addiction and temptation." He also says that as humans, we tread the "hedonic treadmill" by deferring our happiness to the future, when true happiness is always found in the present and being content in it.

The above thoughts Eckhart Aurelius Hughes has on life and humanity in his book, among many others, are what made the book interesting to me. I liked his take on so many things. For example, he emphasizes that it is important to embrace self-reflection and acceptance as a way of achieving inner peace since it is through understanding and accepting ourselves that we can truly love others and the world around us. I can't agree more! I believe that's the truth, and it is sound advice. When we go into self-introspection, we understand ourselves deeper, which makes it easier for us to take the next step of acceptance, after which interacting with others becomes easy. His philosophical point of view is also amazing and sound, which makes it a strong point in the book.

Overall, I found nothing to dislike about the book, and I award it 5 out of 5 stars for that. I think the editing is excellent because I found no notable errors. I would recommend this book to all who like such philosophical pieces.
