Calix Leigh-Reign's book "Opaque" is the first in the Scion Saga. It focuses on establishing Adam and Carly, the two teenage protagonists. Adam is seen as an introvert with views and emotions that defy many social conventions. Adam introduces Carly as his new high school pupil—a teenage romance blooms when they start feeling things that are exclusive to them. As the narrative develops, details regarding the pasts of the primary characters and the setting in which they reside begin to come to light.

Russian scientists discovered a group of people that look and behave strangely from other human races centuries ago. These people's existence is threatened by the belief that they pose a threat, which drives them to seek safety elsewhere. Years later, fate brings two descendants together in unusual circumstances, which launches the investigation into the reason for their existence. Adam, Carly, and the rest of the group must pay a heavy price and suffer great hardships as they go up against the Iksha to free themselves. Will the chains that have held them captive finally be broken? Pick up a copy of Calix Leigh-Reign's Opaque to learn more.

"Opaque" was carefully considered and edited, with zero errors. The book is immaculate, even if Adam did have a filthy mind and fantasized about having sex. There are also a few swear words scattered throughout. It contains fantastic character development, likable supporting cast members who balance out the story and striking imagery that makes me feel like I am really on the journey.

Even though the tale was beautiful overall, there were a few unsatisfactory portions. Adam's initial sentiments about his mother were a little unsettling, even though they were subsequently explained. I initially disliked Adam because of his attitude at the novel's start. Fortunately, he turned around and became one of my faves. Therefore, I'll rate it 5 out of 5 stars. "Opaque" is highly recommended for young adults or older readers. Numerous allusions to sex and sexual material are unsuitable for younger audiences. I doubt I would recommend this book to a young adolescent, even if the primary characters are teenagers.
