[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
In E M P Honeymoon: Kelly & Tom, Dorothy May Mercer unfolds a captivating narrative centered around Kelly and Tom, whose romantic getaway takes a dangerous turn in Honduras. The story delves into their courageous journey as they face a life-threatening situation that extends beyond their safety to the security of their entire nation.
Tom's exploration of coral reefs and Kelly's visit to a seemingly innocent gift shop intertwine with suspense when Kelly uncovers a terrorist operation. The unexpected twist sets the stage for a thrilling adventure as they grapple with armed assailants and a looming terrorist threat. Mercer's storytelling effortlessly weaves action, adventure, and romance, creating a well-rounded plot that keeps readers engaged.
The author's ability to develop each main character shines through in this book. Each character is meticulously crafted, making their roles relatable and adding depth to the narrative. The author's writing style is commendable, offering a seamless reading experience from a third-person perspective.
My favorite aspect of the book is the underlying lesson of bravery and selflessness portrayed by Tom and Kelly. Their decision to prioritize their country's safety over personal enjoyment adds a layer of depth to the narrative, leaving readers with a poignant takeaway. Another thing I enjoyed about this book was the realism of the technology involved. For a sci-fi-themed book, the author had the chance to include all sorts of unrealistic tech present in movies nowadays but went with realistic technology that can and even went further to explain some theories through Dr. Peter.
I found nothing to dislike about this book; it successfully combines suspense and unexpected turns without sacrificing coherence. The absence of grammatical or typographical errors underscores the book's excellent editing. With an enjoyable storytelling style and valuable lessons embedded, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I wholeheartedly recommend it to readers who relish suspense, thrillers, and action-packed narratives.
