Review of Purpose

[Following is a volunteer review of "Purpose" by Gina Bianchini.]
You might consider me someone who appreciates a good self-improvement book. I eagerly picked up Gina Bianchini's book "Purpose," with the anticipation of uncovering my life's Purpose (with a capital P) within its pages. Naturally, I understand that no single book can provide all the answers, and this quest is more of a journey. Nevertheless, I hoped that this book might nudge me further along that path.
I must confess that I didn't pay much attention to the rest of the title, "Design a Community and Transform Your Life—A Step-by-Step Guide to Discovering Your Purpose and Making It Meaningful." Perhaps I should have, as it might have tempered my expectations. (I often lament the decline in reading habits…)
In "Purpose," Bianchini initiates a 30-day program designed to assist readers in identifying their purposes and translating them into actionable plans. I appreciated how she emphasized that one's life can encompass multiple purposes. She underscores the objective of shaping a broader vision and refining grand ideas into practical steps.
In the book's second section, she delves into her novel social community-building platform, Mighty Networks, and how it can breathe life into your purpose within the digital realm.
To my surprise, it was right there, up front in the book.
Initially, I was captivated by the promise of an engaging online community that uplifts individuals, as Bianchini suggests Mighty Networks does. In fact, I'm exploring the possibility of finding such a community independently. However, the book's focus on Mighty Networks felt a bit excessive, essentially serving as a marketing pitch.
I did find the questions for shaping one's future story and the "Purpose 30" exercises to be thought-provoking and insightful. To be candid, I personally struggled to consistently adhere to Bianchini's plan. I am using her questions to help me examine what my purpose might entail, not just in the short term, but with a long-term perspective.
In summary, if you're intrigued by a fresh perspective on life's purpose, Gina Bianchini's "Purpose" delivers just that. It can complement the many similar books by other authors on the subject of discovering one's purpose.
