FROM DRIFT to SHIFT by Jody B. Miller is about finding information, insight, and inspiration to find meaning, fulfillment, and happiness in your work and in your life. The book starts by explaining the concept of "shift", which is about changing your habits, embracing change, and finding ways to break free from being stuck in a monotonous routine to reach your true potential. This book has four parts. Part one is about why a shift is needed. Part two is about when to shift. Part three is about how to shift. Part four addresses what happens after the shift.

Miller's writing style is engaging and relatable. From giving examples of how one tends to drift from everyday experiences to identifying the aspects of life that need to be changed, the author helps the reader take up a transformative journey. The author takes us through many real-life experiences from her own life as well as those of highly successful people that make the book captivating throughout. The range of people presented in this book is truly unique. From a skydiver to a paraplegic artist, the author did a great job selecting the stories. The mix of storytelling and the takeaways derived from each instance make it an enjoyable read.

What I liked most about this book is the experience of the author with the Amazon Achuar tribe. The takeaways at the end of every chapter are also very helpful. The author also touched on many tough topics like unfortunate accidents, rehabilitation, losing someone close, depression, eating disorders, and adoption.

There is nothing I disliked about this book. The language is simple, and there are few censored profanities. There is mention of sexual abuse, but there is nothing graphic about it.

The book is edited very well. I did find one minor typographic error, but that doesn’t stop me from giving this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

It is inspirational, short, and intriguing to read. I recommend this book to everyone above the age of 18 who likes to read motivational and self-help books and looking to embark upon a transformation.
