[Following is a volunteer review of "A Dream For Peace" by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah.]
"A Dream For Peace" by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir of his journey as a freedom fighter and diplomat working to win peace and independence for Algeria from France. He is an Algerian who has long wished to fight for his country's freedom. The book has seventeen chapters and 611 pages. We learn about his childhood problems and his challenging adjustment to maturity.
Dr. Berrah grew up with his family on Algeria's east coast. Unfortunately, he lost his father when he was still quite young. His mother made sure he completed his education. Dr. Berrah continued to achieve high academic standing and was awarded a scholarship to continue his medical education in the United States. Due to his background, he was a victim of bigotry when he was a little child. His efforts and successes were frequently disregarded, which, along with the knowledge he acquired while touring the world, drove his determination to aid in the struggle for his country's freedom. He was concerned about the lack of world peace and accepted President Houphouet-Boigny's offer to act as Special Advisor and Ambassador at Large in Africa.
The subjects covered by the author in this book are quite interesting to me. It provides insightful viewpoints on politics, diplomatic missions, and the effects national decisions have on the rest of the world. The incorporation of personal tales and family values in the book made it relevant and gave Dr. Berrah's story a human touch, which was another component of the book that I liked. His strong affection for his mother and his friendships and ties serve as reminders that, despite political unrest, the significance of enduring human connections and moral principles cannot be overstated. There was nothing I disliked about this book. The book was flawlessly edited, and there were no typographical errors.
I give this book a maximum rating of 5 out of 5 because it discusses crucial dynamics in politics at length. I recommend this book to people who are interested in political science and international relations.
