I can honestly rate this book 3 out of 5. While it was a nice read, I was a little underwhelmed. I wanted more from the relationship of the characters and a bit more of a character arc. I personally like when the main character changes his or her ways of thinking. The main character remained the same throughout the book in my opinion. It could have been better if the main character learned from his mistakes, instead he finds someone who accepts his faults. This book has 10 or more errors however they do not count because it is good English, not American spelling. Another issue is that the book jumped from past tense to present tense at times. I rate the degree of sexual content a 1 out of 5. The book insinuates but does not describe encounters in detail at all. Two non-borderline examples of profanity were used in the book. These factors did not add to the book in a negative way, I did not find them to be inappropriately used. I liked the way the story chose to go; it was unexpected and sometimes unclear. I enjoyed the romantic qualities and definitely wanted to read more and more of it the farther I got into the book. The less important characters were given quite an extensive background which was surprising. I really liked the setting of the novel; I thought it was clever to use a different era to create such a forbidden love. This is a book you can read once and enjoy. I am not sure if I would read it again, mainly because it felt rushed and a bit repetitive. However, I liked the characters and it truly was a great book to enjoy for a couple of days.
