E M P Honeymoon is a charming novel in which Kelly McBride and Sgt. Tom Turbulo become drawn into a dangerous conspiracy while on their honeymoon in Honduras. While her husband is on a diving boat adventure on a gorgeous, sunny day, Kelly decides to take a bus tour of the island. When the bus stops so that the passengers can explore the neighborhood's shops and attractions, Kelly finds herself wandering down a side street, where she comes across a business called Pigsty. She enters the shop to take a look around, thinking it would be a good place to shop for gifts. She selects the products she wants to buy and then realizes the shopkeeper is nowhere to be seen. Kelly enters the store's backroom in search of someone who works there, but instead discovers a plan to destroy North America. Kelly gets caught snooping by a big man, but she makes it back to her hotel room.

Kelly makes a panicked phone call to her brother, Senator McBride, but she hangs up without saying anything. He asks his assistant, Cynthia, to investigate the urgent call after noticing the strain in her voice. Due to Cynthia's connections with a government agency, two specialized operatives are dispatched to Honduras.
Kelly tells Tom about the unintentional finding of what she believes to be a terrorist plot when Tom gets back from diving. He confirms her account and discovers the backroom as she had described it, knowing his wife is not the type to entertain crazy thoughts. The honeymooners decide to maintain their presence on the island as two happy newlyweds and covertly learn of the threat because they are unsure of the terrorists' plans.

The author provides the reader with a humorous story while also introducing certain ideas that are startlingly true. With new technology and tools like checkout cashier machines that can replace people, for instance, technology is advancing rapidly. It caused me to pause and consider the current technologies we all use as well as any potential hidden experimental technologies.

The talk-show interview is one of my favorites. I really enjoyed reading about scientific occurrences like solar flares, using the Carrington flare as an illustration. I was curious about this, so I looked it up online for more information. Facts about an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) and the destruction such a phenomenon could inflict on a segment of the earth were covered in another section of the interview. I salute Dorothy May Mercer for using the scientist's talk-show chat to support the espionage in her narrative and for cleverly incorporating the EMP into the title. There were no mistakes in the book, and I felt the editing was superb. There was nothing about the book that turned me off. I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars as a result of these factors.

Anyone who appreciates a light romance with an intriguing plot twist might enjoy this novel, in my opinion.
