Unicorns Know Magic, written by Charles Adkins and illustrated by Ros Webb, is a charming children's story. It begins when a group of unicorns comes to town, befriending two children and taking them on a flying adventure. The children learn much from the unicorns and have a marvelous time with them. The unicorns may have poor table manners but make up for it by being generous, kind friends.

I loved the illustrations in this book; They were each bright and filled the entire page. The illustrator did a brilliant job showing the expression on the unicorn's faces and bringing them to life. Seeing unicorns doing house chores like painting and doing dishes was particularly fun. I feel like the illustrator must have had a lot of fun making this story come to life. The storytelling was entirely in rhyme and was ideally suited to younger readers. The story was easy to follow, used age-friendly language for youngsters, and was completely appropriate in content.

There was nothing to dislike about this book. Perhaps my only criticism would be the small typeface, as I think it would be easier for younger readers to have larger lettering. But, beyond that, I found no errors in the book, and the characters were delightfully portrayed. The unicorns were fanciful yet relatable, and the entire story had a lighthearted quality. I can easily imagine reading this aloud to my nieces, showing them each picture along the way, and holding their attention the whole time!

I gave this book five out of five stars because there was virtually nothing to dislike about it. It was true to a children's book all the way through. I recommend this book to mid-elementary school readers and parents of elementary or younger kids who enjoy reading aloud. If I saw this on a shelf, I'd gladly purchase it for a young person in my life.

This book would interest a lot of children. The unicorns in the story, the little adventure in it, the colorful easy-to-draw pictures, and the short poem-like descriptions all make this book attractive to children.
