Depravity: A Beauty and the Beast Novel

I should first say that I'm a big Beauty and the Beast fan so when I got this book I expected to like it no matter what. What I did not expect was getting this book then immediately downloading the second one (around nine p.m. telling myself the same old lie of just one more chapter) and after I devoured that one (around twelve a.m.) I looked up the last one only to find it wasn't out yet! (This led to one of the worst book hangovers I've had in recent memory.) This little trilogy far exceeded my original expectations.
The story of course follows Benella (Beauty) at the tender age of sixteen but that's about the only tender thing going for her throughout most of the series. She lives in a tough world where the poor starve, trade or barter with whatever they have. Sometimes if they want to or not. Luckily our heroine is very savey, smart and to my complete joy a tom boy! Her spirit never breaks even when she finds herself in some very bad situations and is faced with some hard truths about how evil and selfish people can be. This series is really pretty dark at times. Fortunately some of those bad times brings her to the outskirts of the famous Estate that is guarded by the completely mysterious but absolutely deadly Beast.
I thought I would read this book to see another cute retelling of Beauty and the Beast, what I got was a story that at times seemed like it was going into erotica territory then it would pull back into sweet times then jump into some seriously funny situations then come back around to good old fashioned romance. I can honestly say I was completely confused about what genre (besides general romance obviously) I was reading. I can't suggest this trilogy to fellow fairy tale romance fans enough.
Awesome side not the first book in this series is currently free on Amazon! And the trilogy is now complete.
