In the book Oki-Boyz: Freshmen Year by Marq Turner, he discusses the life of Eric Anthony, a high school freshman at Kadena Air Force Base. He was 14 when his parents moved to Okinawa for a fresh start, and he was admitted to the school. While in school, he quickly made friends with Jimmy, Donnie, Monty, and Andy. Andy, being the flirting type, talked to one of the girls that were at their back while having lunch, unaware to him that it was Nate's girlfriend, one of the top Panther football team players. Nate grabbed him, and the other boys stood up for Andy. After class, Eric met with Andy and Jimmy, and as they were in the locker room trying to change for basketball balls, they were cornered by Nate and his boys and got beaten by them. Fortunately, Jimmy's brother, Johnny B, and three of his boys came to their rescue. After they had rescued the boys, they joined their gang as they were told by Johnny if they wanted protection. The boys later met Johnny at his place, where they called the clubhouse and got initiated.

This book gives an example of gangster life and its activities. The book is action-packed with a lot of crime and sexual content. I was engrossed by this book and the activities of the gang members, especially their brawl with Marco and his gang. I would advise those who do not like vulgar words or sexual content in a book or those who find it offensive to avoid this book, as they may find the content disturbing.

What I loved about this book was how Eric stood up for his other gang members, treating them like they were his brothers. Eric and Johnny were my favorite characters in this book. Johnny, being the person who brought the gang into existence, was the brain behind the gang, and he was very smart too, and Eric, despite being newly recruited, was already getting famous in the gang because he never missed out on the actions. I also loved the author's style of writing, as the reader would be entertained while reading.

My reading of this book did not raise any concerns, and I didn't see anything to criticize about it. I fell in love with the book and the way the gang members operated. However, I discovered a few errors while reading this book, which brings me to the notice that this book was professionally edited. Because of the reasons for my liking this book stated above, I give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to those who love stories about gangster life, as they would enjoy reading it.

Children moving when little because of their parents was a common thing in the past. It shapes some children and it mares some.

Gangster life can be very dangerous among youth when it is intense. Child upbringing is also critical as it can make or mar one's future. Thanks for a nice review.

Sounds like a good book to read. Although I don't like books filled with lots of sexual content.

Young adults who are still in high school will appreciate this novel a lot and I’m sure they will learn a lot from it on what not to do and to do while in school. I enjoy your review! Well done!

This isn't exactly my kind of thriller but I guess it offers some insights into teen gangs and their members' behavior. Thank you for your great review!
