[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
The protagonist in this book, Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula: Diary of a Snoopy Cat, is a cat named Inca, who is on a mission to solve crimes and assist those in need with the help of her companions; they also happen to be her family and friends.
The plot begins when Inca's mother was invited to Korea to introduce her newly created cheese. She and her family had to go to South Korea. When they arrived at their destination, their cheese was gone. The animals began their detective duties. When they arrived at their hotel, the animals discovered that their tour guide had a sister who had broken off contact with him. When the animals realized how much he missed his sister, they chose to make him smile once more. Will they succeed? Find out by reading this book.
Because of the positive parts of the novel, which featured an intriguing opening and clearly described important events, this book is a memorable addition to the cat series. I got to play along with the characters, thanks to Kristi. When I read the novel further, I found a few hints that Inca and her friends left out to persuade Bo-Mi to accompany them. I started performing my detective duties too. I adored Inca's newfound positivity and confidence.
I discovered animals are also capable of reasoning, and they have emotions. Inca had strong leadership skills, and I believe that this should have a positive influence on kids who read this book. I liked the way the animals cooperated. My reading journey came to an end once my curiosity had been piqued; the ending of this book was very satisfactory.
My only concern was how quickly a resolution could be made. However, seeing that this is a book for kids, I reminded myself that it was adequate to have a less complex problem, a problem that could be easily solved. This book sustained my attention, and I believe kids should enjoy reading it too. Also, there are great values to learn from reading this book. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was perfectly edited; I did not encounter any errors in it. Since there was nothing that disturbed my reading experience negatively, I did not deduct any stars.
I recommend this book to children and their guardians. As an adult, if you like stories for children, this is a book for you.
