This book is for you if you have ever looked at the world and asked any of the following questions. Why is there so much suffering? Why is there so much anger, hatred and greed? Why are we unable to achieve extended periods of peace? In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes sets out to try and answer these questions or at least give perspective to them. Eckhart articulates the notion of spiritual slavery in a digestible manner that is incredibly insightful, explaining how it can affect anyone and everyone regardless of background, wealth, health or upbringing.

It is undoubtedly evident of Hughes’s desire to help others achieve self-liberation and happiness through In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All, his style of writing, use of words and manner of explaining ideas is not done in a preachy or condescending tone but rather friendly and inclusive, it is clear that Hughes has made an effort to articulate these ideas in an easy to read and digest manner to make it readily available for the masses to understand, and not just a select few. I liked how the author articulated how inner peace is a choice to some extent. The notion of accepting the things we cannot control and being happy with the decisions we make regarding the things we can control - to fail to do so is to relinquish our sacred inner peace. Eckhart Aurelius Hughes’s ability to talk about serious and philosophical topics that could feel ‘heavy’ or difficult to understand is counterbalanced by the addition of humour – helping to build a connection between writer and reader – which is the icing of the proverbial cake. In addition, this book is like a treasure chest for inspiring quotes that manage to cut through the haze of confusion and jargon and imprint an ‘a-ha’ moment of clarity in one’s brain.

There was nothing that I disliked about this book; it has been successfully peer-reviewed, in my opinion, and I gladly rate it 4 out of 4 stars. Therefore, I recommend In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All to anyone over 18 who wishes to lead a happier life or is on their journey to self-realisation and acceptance. I firmly believe everyone should read this book as I feel its contents are similar to finding the golden egg to life, and I will gladly term In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All as one of the best self-help books of all time.
