According to research, mental health issues for people between 17 and 25 years keep escalating annually. Another study indicates that over 15% of university students battle mental health problems like depression. And have we thought about the skyrocketing statistics of suicide incidents among the youth? But why is that?

Keri Cooper teaches us the foundations of mental health: sleep, food, meditation, staying hydrated, etc. Without them, accomplishing a healthy mental state will be problematic. For instance, we need enough sleep to start a new day afresh. Plus, a healthy diet and physical exercises go a long way. The author delves deeper into each foundation, informing readers of their importance in the body. Did you know the color of your urine speaks volumes about your health?

Dehydration can influence your mood or lead to anxiety and depression. That came as a shocker! Most children who battle mental health problems consume unhealthy foods like fries, sodas, and processed meats. Physical exercises like yoga, running, dancing classes, or aerobics are good stress relievers. I learned that meditation works wonders for the brain. It relaxes the body and controls anxiety. Also, a relaxed body yields a healthy mind.

I enjoyed the facts the author puts across. For instance, she says many parents believe their child's future success depends on good school grades. That is not the case because the world is evolving fast. I have encountered a millionaire teen who made good money from playing computer games.

Another thing I liked was reading about Keri's personal experiences and turning points. At some point, she had to adopt a healthy lifestyle, like staying hydrated, exercising, and consuming nutritious foods. I enjoyed reading about the author’s family, especially when diet got involved. In one instance, her daughter exhibited extreme behavioral changes as a toddler. Luckily, the restriction of dairy products worked wonders! Her daughter was back on track after that. That’s the power of food intake.

I did identify a few grammatical flaws. Otherwise, the book is well edited. I cherished the practicability of the work. The author discusses topics that happen in our routine activities. For instance, diet, hydration, and sleep are part of our daily activities. She then tells us what we can do to better our physical and mental health. I rate Mental Health Uncensored 4 out of 4 stars because I found nothing to dislike. I recommend it to parents and adults looking to better their mental health.

Thank you so much for the great review!
I've always been interested in mental health so this book is definitely one I would love to read.
It's a shocker that diet and exercise affect mental health honestly but it does make sense. As a young person trying to be more aware of mental health, I think this book would help a lot. Thanks again.

Thanks for your review. This book is a gem! It is refreshing to see a book addressing mental health that focuses on lifestyle and common sense habits rather than labeling and drugging.

As a budding psychologist, it makes me so happy when I come across such awakening books. Great job on the review. Much power to the author for highlighting factors such as diet and lifestyle in connection to mental health. These things are often overlooked.
