[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
Kelly and Tom Turbulo are enjoying their honeymoon on a resort island when things go wrong. Kelly snoops around a Pigsty shop and discovers something she should not have seen. This put her life in danger. She is terrified and flees the terrorists pursuing her. She quickly calls her brother to explain her predicament. Later, it is learned that these terrorists are planning a fatal attack. This couple is entangled in an international intrigue—a frightening plot to wipe out North America—and must figure out a means to prevent this horrible plan from becoming a reality. What is it going to be? Will they be able to stop these terrorists?
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a standalone book in the McBride series. It is a fast-paced action thriller that captivated me with each thrilling scene. I love how Dorothy made the dialogues full of humour. I had a good laugh as I read through these funny scenes. One of the scenes I found most amusing was when Sharon and Agatha, Senator McBride's bodyguards and Kelly's older brother, brought down a CIA agent without missing a beat. Steve Spalding, a CIA operative, assumed that because they were women, he would easily take them down, but he was wrong. This is a satisfying thriller about a group of individuals attempting to expose a terrorist threat to the United States. Each scene ends on a cliffhanger, and readers will find it difficult to put this book down. The author depicts the effects of a nuclear EMP if it was set up and what would happen if it was launched at the target destination.
This novel was enjoyable from beginning to end. The author's creativity is in weaving this story so quickly that one will be unable to look away from each page without blinking. There is a mild romance in the book, but there is also an intriguing plot twist. I am amazed at Dorothy's deft handling of the characters. The characters appear to be real and relatable. The characters' personalities are similar to those we encounter daily. Kelly and Tom cannot go on their honeymoon since they and their friends are fighting to save their country from an impending calamity. It is a compelling story full of mystery and suspense.
The TV talk show interview is the part of the book that I enjoyed the most. The interview's theme is 'What if the power goes out?' This show intrigued me since it raises a subject that most people have never considered. I discovered something new that I was previously unaware of. Using the Carrington Flare as an example, I was given an understanding of solar flares. I like how the author's image and website information were included to encourage readers to learn more about solar flares. This book really has a wealth of information.
I didn't find anything negative in this book. It is exceptionally edited. I rate this book four out of four stars. This beautifully crafted piece will make anyone ecstatic as they read through the exciting scenarios. I recommend this book to lovers of action thrillers.
