After reading Bitcoin Answered: A Beginner’s Guide to Everything Bitcoin, by Jon Law and Alan John, I still do not feel competent enough to explain it to others. But this is my fault, not that of the authors. Having never taken an interest in learning how the stock market functions, let alone playing the market, I also have had no interest in Bitcoin nor any other cryptocurrency. The only reason I chose to read this book is because a couple of years ago, our grandson, a high school senior at the time, asked me if I knew anything about Bitcoin. I told him I had heard of it but did not really know much about it. Thanks to this book, I can now say I am familiar with the concept of digital currencies, especially Bitcoin, and can engage in light conversations about blockchain, mining, nodes, and even the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto. Like most other technical books, readers will get out of it what they put into it, so for people with more interest in learning about Bitcoin and who try, they can say they are not just familiar with, but actually “understand the scope of Bitcoin, digital currencies, and blockchain”, as stated by the authors.

What I like most about the book is the unique format. Instead of numbered chapters, it is organized with small sections of which one hundred and sixteen of the sections are titled by questions about Bitcoin that are answered in the individual sections. There is also a small glossary at the back that serves as a quick reference, and a list of books for additional reading. I also liked the colorful graphs and illustrations.

There is nothing about the book that I disliked. It was easy to read and, like the subtitle suggests, is an informative book for beginners.

I rate this book four out of four stars. It lives up to what the authors designed it to do by providing an easy-to-follow guide to everything about Bitcoin.

I recommend this book not only to novices of Bitcoin but also to those already knowledgeable and have questions that are covered in the book. I also recommend it as a useful resource to find other books and web sites for additional research. Except for grandparents who want to impress their grandchildren, I do not recommend it to anyone with no interest at all in cryptocurrencies.
