[Following is a volunteer review of "Shadow's Adventure Home" by Kathy Kovar.]
Have you ever wandered far away from home, with nobody to take you back? Shadow's Adventure Home by Kathy Kovar is the story of a cat named Shadow and his adventures away from home.
Shadow would always stare at birds from the window; he would always fantasize about catching one of them, but he never got the opportunity to go outside. He was surprised when Brendan packed up their things. They were moving to another house, which Brendan told him was bigger than the former and had a lot of windows. At the new house, Shadow didn't blend in easily. The new house made him uncomfortable, and this always made him hide. One day, the kids left the door open while playing. Shadow saw this as an opportunity to catch birds. While chasing the bird, he lost his track and went missing. How would he find his way back?
This is a very short but touching story. I can only imagine how Shadow had to cope in the wide world all alone. When I lost my pet, I knew how painful it was for me. This is a good read for children. It is a lesson that no matter what you do, remember to keep track of how you are moving. My little cousin enjoyed every bit of this story.
There was nothing wrong with the book. My cousin is now thinking of getting a cat too. The author did a good job of keeping this story simple. The pictures in this book made the story come to life. This book is educational and also very inspiring. The importance of family was clearly stated by the author.
I'm rating this book 4 stars out of 4. There were no errors in this book. This shows that it was exceptionally well-edited. I would love to recommend this book to people with kids. The book is a good read for children.
