[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Disasters To Dreams" by Chris Patrick.]
Challenges are supposed to either strengthen or weaken us. How you approach any challenge you may encounter will determine how you come out of it. We all know that climbing a success ladder is not easy, and we have to experience some ups and downs, but as the saying goes, the end always justifies the means. Disasters to Dreams: A Gritty Guide to Finding Success in the Face of Failure by Chris Patrick is a novel full of encouragements and pieces of advice on some of the challenges that we face in our daily lives.
This is a non-fictional novel about the life of Chris Patrick, a real estate businessman and the author of this book. He shares his story, including the ups and downs that he went through to get where he is today. First, at a young age, Chris goes through the hands of an abusive father. He is also suspended from school for alleged rape, which causes him severe trauma. Later in life, he experiences divorce, his thrilling businesses fall, and he is robbed and has to give up all his savings. Furthermore, he is fired by his employers and even loses his house. How will he survive these challenges?
The book contains two hundred and twenty pages. It is divided into fourteen chapters. Each chapter includes a subheading that, to some extent, summarizes the contents of the chapter. The story is mainly narrated from the first-person point of view. It uses both the past and the present tenses.
I liked several things about this book. However, in this review, I'll only mention two things that I liked the most. First, the author's interview with successful people is very encouraging. These people narrate about how they achieved their success and give invaluable pieces of advice to the readers on how to navigate challenges and become victorious. Second, the author's story was very captivating. At times, I thought the challenges were too much for him. Through his incredible writing-style, the author creates a suspenseful storyline; I was curious to find out how he solves some of these challenges. Since I didn't find any grammatical errors while reading, this book was exceptionally well-edited.
In conclusion, this is a brilliant book. There is nothing I disliked about it. I, therefore, rate it four out of four stars. I recommend it to anyone who finds inspiration in other people's success stories. Those looking for a guide to either personal or business development will also find it helpful.
