[Following is a volunteer review of "Fish Wielder" by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison.]
The book, Fish Wielder is a science fiction and fantasy novel written by J.R.R.R (Jim) Hardison. The story revolves around a mighty fist wielder, named Thoral and his adventures with his trusted friends.
Thoral is a strong, tough, and handsome fighter in Grome, a magical world that is far away from earth. He is on an adventure with his friends, named, Bradfast, a koi fish, Blurmfrad, a sword, and Warlordhorse, a tiger-striped steed. During their expedition, Thoral rescues an elvish princess named Nalweegie who was held as a captive in a tower. She falls for Thoral soon after that. Later on, Thoral assigns himself a mission to save Grome and defeat the Dark Brothers of Bad Religion, who have plans of destroying his land. Though Thoral is mighty, Dark Brothers are not frail either. So, it is interesting to know whether Thoral can defeat the brotherhood, or he gets held as a hostage.
Fish Wielder is an intriguing fantasy book that is nearly 450 pages long divided into 47 chapters. This is a thrilling book with lots of action and drama. The characters of the story are magical and mysterious and are well-crafted. The author’s language is crisp and clear.
Firstly, I want to say that I totally enjoyed reading this book. I absolutely adore the friendship between Thoral and his fish, Brad. Brad supports Thoral in all his endeavors and also keeps him entertained. That koi fish is witty and smart. The way he lightens a serious situation is nice. The biggest appeal for me was Thoral’s heroism. He was daring and strong throughout. I felt the story became more engrossing when Thoral’s past was involved. It showed that he was not just a tough man but he also had a tender heart. The best part about the book is its twists and turns. They keep the readers hooked till the end. This novel includes vivid creatures, elves, demons, etc. that make the story even more interesting. I was especially riveted to read the later part of the book. It was fascinating to read and unveil many secrets and suspense that made me jump in excitement.
There is nothing that I disliked about this. I did not find any error while reading this. So, I think the book is professionally edited. With that being said, I rate Fish Wielder 4 out of 4 stars.
This book contains blood and war scenes. Therefore, I do not recommend this to people sensitive to such content. Apart from this, it is a wonderful book. I strongly recommend this to young adults and adults who enjoy reading fast-paced, mysterious fantasy books.
