[Following is a volunteer review of "The Pro-Achievement Principle" by Dr. Deborah Bright.]
The Pro-Achievement Principle by Dr. Deborah S. Bright is a book that is full of learning and a coaching guide for cultivating skills for leaders and team members. These skills include attitudinal alignment and a collaborative mindset. This book enables one to advance a spirit of positive and cooperation among individual team members. The steps are sequenced as lessons rather than chapters. End of lesson takeaways are provided as teaching points for one on one or small group meetings or as a quick reference for review purposes.
The writer researched on a study that concluded that a generation of leaders in large companies are out of sync, out of tune and out of touch with their workforce, markets and competitive landscapes among other findings. Which goes to tell you that when most of these leaders get a hold of this book it will give them a right guide in the right direction with their workforce and markets to give them positive results. Leaders who embrace new and more effective ways of working and leading not only unleash talents of their workforce but also of the entire community.
"In today's world, everyone has to be a leader. We have to think of ourselves as members of a leadership community," said by Amber McCord of Johnson and Johnson. The author emphasizes on the importance of collaborating in creative ways for all the workforce. Leaders, followers and team members to focus on adding value in everything they do.
This empowering, quick read, is something you can read on your own, without help from a therapist, coach or boss. It is a short, highly readable manual for creating enthusiasm for going from good to better and better to best. It moves the readers to take a close look inside themselves and examine ways that can make them better. Hence for that reason I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because there is no better way the author could have emphasized her points.
In my opinion, one negative thought about the book is that, I feel like now a pedestal has been placed upon me which when I become a great leader, I will not have an excuse for having a workforce that is not highly performing and greatly talented, since the book teaches you how to be in tune with my workforce. Not so negative of an opinion but now I now know better.
The book was exceptionally well edited and I strongly recommend leaders to have a copy of the book in order for a turnaround on their organizations.
