Aura is an angel who doesn't want to visit Earth again, but her mother sends her there on a mission that seems impossible. A terrifying apocalypse is imminent, and evil could take over the world if she fails! Why is her mother keeping this mission a secret from other angels? And why is she so interested in this half-demon, Gabriel?

Gabriel has been struggling to keep the demon inside him at bay most of his life, and time is running out. His next birthday is the appointed time for the evil side of him to take over and unleash mayhem on Earth. As a result, the number of casualties has continued to increase, and it's becoming difficult for him to resist his urge to kill. Will Aura be able to help rid Gabriel of the evil destiny his father has waited so long for him to fulfill? Read The Demon Inside by Katerina Degratte to find out.

The Demon Inside is the first book in the Hell's Creature series. The author uses alternating points of view to tell the story, which, in my opinion, helps readers to follow and appreciate the inner battles in the minds of the characters. I found the dialogues and witty remarks between Gabriel and the demon inside him to be funny but intriguing. Apart from Aura and Gabriel's perspectives, those of a few other characters are also sparingly featured, making the reading experience more exciting.

I enjoyed the author's unique portrayal of demons, angels, and vampires in this novel. This author provides a new dimension to some of the creatures we love in fantasy books by making them relatable, vulnerable, and the opposite of what we believe they must be. This aspect of the book is what I liked the most because it gave me a different vibe and didn't conform to the usual standard.

It has been a while since I discussed anything about character development in a book. Most books either dwell on the backstories of characters or leave the reader to make up one for them. That is not the case here. The characters are well developed and expertly presented to the reader. The author provides the characters' backstories in a subtle way that neither bores nor overwhelms the reader. I love that!

Furthermore, the author's ability to sustain the atmosphere of suspense from start to finish is praiseworthy. I summoned the best of my willpower to put the book down and do something else for myself. More so, I never expected the book to end the way it did. What a twist! Fortunately, the second book in the series is introduced at the end of the book, so I can't wait to grab that one too.

Nevertheless, I am not happy that I found over ten errors in this novel. Even though the errors didn't detract from my enjoyment, I think this fascinating novel deserves better proofreading. This novel made me laugh, had me engrossed, and was worth every minute I put into reading it. So I feel reluctant to deduct a star from its rating but have to do so because the editing team should have done better. Therefore, I am awarding The Demon Inside three out of four stars.

I highly recommend this novel to readers who love fantasy books about the age-long battle between good and evil. There are descriptions of people dying gruesomely and some sexual content, so I recommend the book to mature readers who don't mind such things. I wish you a happy reading if you decide to pick this book up.

The storyline is unique and very intriguing. Am still asking myself how a mission to save a half demon can be a secret. I would expect angels to combine powers and save him. I enjoyed reading your detailed review.

Seeing a lot of errors could be let down to a very good book. Hopefully the author will make the necessary editing.
