I'm a reading addict. I love to read but buying every book I want to read can get expensive so I find myself bargain hunting with the freebies being among my first choice.

How much are you willing to pay for a good book to read? I think my most expensive "novel" was $40. Textbooks don't count in this question because they are priced so over the top expensive.

It depends on the book. On ebooks up to $10. Paper book $10- $15.

I agree with gali it depends on the book. I read a lot so I try to keep the cost down choosing less well known authors. The only time I go up in price to say $15 is when I can't wait to get the next book in a series I am reading

$20 - $25 for a paperback novel, depending on size. I don't buy hardback novels - a) they are too expensive b) they are too heavy to carry around in handbag.
Can often get cheaper on special or second hand for around $3.

I mainly buy ebooks from istore now - most are in $10 - $15 range. I would pay up to $20 if I really wanted that particular book.

A local library has almost a mini book shop of used books for free, the supply turns over weekly so I find some great treasures there. But when buying books maybe $30 tops for one book unless it's something exceptional I gotta have, then maybe $60.
There was a Lincoln book, a life in pictures, coffee table sized and fascinating. I hinted around for holidays and my birthday because it was around $60. One day I walked into the above mentioned library and it all but jumped off the shelf into my arms...all mine, all free, I smiled on that one for a long time!

Not much to be honest. I'm a student and most of my money goes on food and bills. I usually will go up to about £10 - £15 for a book, at a push. I can usually find them cheaper elsewhere though.

I agree with Katiedid. I read so much that it became very expensive. I think it is ridiculous the amount they charge for a hard covered book. I am glad to find free books for my Kindle. Even the Ebooks can get too expensive, sometimes mire than a paperback which shouldn't be. I don't think electronic books should be more than $4 or $5.

The majority of books I buy now are ebooks and my limit on those are about $10. As far as a paperback I would go to about $15-20. I can't even remember the last time I bought a hardback book.

I'm only willing to pay about $15.00 for a book. No more than that. Books have become so expensive, its hard to buy one because you keep rethinking it.

To be honest with you I hate to pay over $10.00 for a new book but I always pay the price it is set at when it is released. So I guess I will pay any price for a book I really want.

$10 for a paperback. Much less for an e-book, because I'm not actually getting the book. Just a very limited license to read it. I can't give it to a friend when I'm done, or trade it in at a used book shop. In most cases, I can't even loan it to a friend. And, if issues arise with the publisher, as has happened with Amazon, the book can simply be removed from my library (unless I have the foresight to transfer all downloads to a separate computer). I think it's unethical for a company to charge what is essentially a rental at the same price they sell the book. If I rent a movie, I don't expect to pay the same price I would pay to own it.

I try to keep it under $20, with that really being an exception.

The most I will pay is $25.00. But anything over $6.00 and I will cringe as I buy it, usually because I can never buy just one book, it's always 2 or 3 books I will purchase at once.

I haven't set a limit for the amount I'll pay for a book. It's important that I get a book that feels good in my hands and meets my literary standards as well, so I'm willing to go out of my way to pay more for any books that appeal to me.

I'm not only a reader but a person who loves to buy collectible books, mostly ones that really touched my heart and soul. I've spent $200+ on some of my collectible books, which are all first edition, first printing and signed by the authors. They're my pride and joy among most of my possessions.

For me it depends on the book, like if it is a special edition of a favourite book such as Harry Potter, I am willing to pay about $50. However, if it is just a book I want to try nothing over $15.
