The angel and the star of 49th street is written by Timothy Patrick Butler. The book contains a collection of short poems. These poems cover many themes and topics. Butler has recovered from paranoid schizophrenia. The poems reflect his thoughts and feelings of what it’s like to go through that.
What I liked about the book is that the author wrote the poems beautifully. I was able to picture the poems clearly in my mind. Another thing I liked was the font used for the titles. It makes it more fun to read. In addition to that, I also like how the author dates some of the poems. This is great because the poem reflects how he was feeling during that period of time. What I loved about the poems was that it had you feeling many emotions. Whilst reading, I felt like I was connected to the author.
Furthermore, I like that the poems contained rhyme. It makes it more interesting to read, and it makes the poems flow nicely. I think the author’s descriptive writing is amazing. It felt like I was there experiencing what was written in the poems. There’s a constant theme of seasons, weather, and achieving goals.
My favourite poem in the book was on page 29. He describes the amazing things he did in life. It shows he has tried to live his life to the fullest. Reading this poem inspired me to go out and do more things. It makes you realise that life is short, and you should enjoy every moment of it.
There are a lot of important messages that you can take away from this book. First of all, it teaches you that you shouldn’t let anyone or anything stop you from achieving your goals. Secondly, it teaches you that you are in control of yourself, and not to let others control you.
What I disliked about the book was that it would have been nice if all the poems had individual titles. This would make you more interested in reading the poem. Another thing I didn’t like is that a lot of the poems are repeated multiple times. This made me frustrated because I felt like I was at the beginning again.
Overall, I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I have to knock off one star because of the repetition of poems. I didn’t find any mistakes, so it is professionally edited. There’s no profanity and no explicit scenes. I recommend this book to adults who enjoy reading poetry.
