The 20's in N.Y.C. at the Algonquin Hotel as a member of the " round table "...Dorothy Parker, Robt. Benchley, Alexander Woollcott, Harpo Marx, Edna Ferber, Marc Connelly, Tallulah Bankhead, etc...
The leading writers, playrights, journalists, etc. of the day met for lunch / discussion at this famous hotel in Manhattan from 1919-1929....
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall...

The only problem with the past is medicine and dentistry even state of the art was a hit or miss situation...women's life expectancy was like 40? But if I could have been healthy...I would have been in Josephine Baker's Paris, a lady of leisure and respected writer...

I would have lived in the Weimar Republic in Germany between 1919 to 1933. That period in German history spawned so much important art and culture, but also was the nexus between two horrific wars. Humanity was slouching toward its darkest hour while striving to achieve a great and permanent achievement in beauty. To see the world in those years would have been amazing, and the fall heartbreaking. I am completely enraptured by that era.

Tudor and Regency time periods were my favorites as a child. But reflecting on the dangers and harshness of life at those times and my own over opinionated nature I think it safer that I stay in my own time. I also like the fashion and art of the 1920's and 1950's however keeping house is not something I would enjoy being expected to do.
Perhaps I am just a product of our current time

Oh I forgot to choose the locale. Perhaps China, Denmark, Russia, England, Australia.

On the Washington coast north of Aberdeen in the 40's and 50's before the developers moved in. I was there in 1962 during a trip to the Seattle Worlds Fair and fell in love with the place. It was a wild stormy desolate place with just a few cabins and some Indian shacks. The backdrop was primeval forests and mountains, It was like One Million B.C. There were some places where if you went in too far to take a leak you may have never come out again. Sasquatch legends, stuff like that. I imagine its pretty built up by now, they were starting to develop it with houses and resorts even then.
Ive often thought I would like to live in the western states in the 1800's, but to think about it I would probably be dead or in a wheelchair. Ive had pneumonia several times over the years, and a bone disease plus other illnesses that couldnt be cured back then.

I would choose one that I have already lived through, albeit as a youngster....the 1960's in England. Everyone just seemed just generally happier and certainly more friendlier than nowadays, oh and the beer was cheaper.

The only difference between beatniks and hippies was 10 years. Except maybe the music, hippie music was better.
