[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "How to Generate and Earn Royalty Income" by Marina Peters.]
Anyone who owns an intellectual property deserves to receive payment for the use or reuse of their work. This payment is what is known as a royalty. In How to Generate and Earn Royalty Income, Marina Peters explains the different ways you can make money through royalty payments. She asserts that it's also possible to receive royalty income even if you didn't initially own any intellectual property. Everything you need to know about royalty income, from the industries where it works to royalty myths and misconceptions, is documented in this book. You will learn the dynamics of ensuring your intellectual property makes money for you.
Let me begin by saying that I enjoyed reading this book. It was short, simple, and precise. The author was straightforward in her presentation, and her points were easy to grasp and understand. She explained everything to the tiniest detail. I've read so many books that brevity was their undoing. It was a different case for this book as brevity was its strongest point. There were no fluffs, filler narratives, or unnecessary repetitions. If she repeated a statement, it was for emphasis. Overall, this book was a joy to read.
What I liked most about this book was the level of research that went into writing it. The author used facts and figures to make her point. Her auditing experience came to bear in this book. She showed how versatile and knowledgeable she was in the subject of royalty income. She was able to explain how royalty payments worked for different industries. For every industry she mentioned, she wrote in a way that shows that she either had experience in that industry or did thorough research on how royalty worked there. Regardless of the author's in-depth analysis, the book wasn't bulky as she communicated her message in a precise and straightforward way.
I also liked the instances cited in the book. The examples helped to show me what's possible if I desired a royalty income. I verified the cases cited through my research to establish their credibility. Reading the different instances made the book practical, albeit to a small extent.
There was only one thing that I disliked about this book. I was expecting a level of personal touch to the narrative, but I didn't see it. Though the author cited examples to buttress her points, there was no personal side to it. I wasn't expecting the author to riddle the book with her own stories. However, a couple of personal experiences would have added more credibility to the narrative. This book could pass for a research paper. Though the absence of personal touch didn't change the fact that this book was a good read, it would have made it more relatable.
There were a couple of grammatical and typographic errors I found in the book. Therefore, I rate it 3 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to anyone interested in knowing how to generate an income through royalty.
