[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]

Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is a children’s illustrated book written by R.F. Kristi and is the eighth book in The Inca Cat Detective Series.

Inca and her family are going on a trip to Korea because ‘Mom', who is apparently the owner of this group of cats, is chosen to exhibit her new recipe of cheese which has become extremely famous. Inca and her gang are used to resolving cases and always make grave situations better. They are excited about this trip to Korea, and an exciting adventure awaits them throughout the journey.

The book is short, fast-paced and to the point. It can be felt while reading that the book is trying to enhance the vocabulary of its readers. It accomplishes the job with perfection without too many complications with the words and sentence formation. There are a lot of things a kid can learn out of this book. It talks about the culture of Korea and its geographical location, the language spoken there and other informative things about the country. It makes the reader aware of the military tension between North and South Korea and the need for peace between the two. It also talks about admirable characters of animals namely cats and dogs and might even be propagating the advantages of having pets with utmost subtlety. The cherry on the top (along with all these great traits which are needed in a children's book) is the excellent illustration by Jorge Valle which will keep the children attentive, and the illustration also includes a map of Korea which is again knowledge for the children. The book does not have any spelling mistakes or other errors and is very well edited. It is fit for readers of age three to seven who will enjoy the story the most. I, being an adult, equally enjoyed this book very much and became a child again with Inca and her group.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars for being extremely informative and fun to read. I’m certain the kids will cherish it as well.

I find so many things to applaud in this book. For starters, the fact that it expands their vocabulary and helps them build loving relationships with animals. It's also so important for kids to learn to understand different cultures and worldviews and I'm glad this book presents it in a friendly way. I do wonder how the author approached the political conflict in an age-appropriate manner, but I find it commendable. What a great read for kids! Thank you!
