I haven't read the book either, but the movie was, excuse the pun, fantastic! I thought it was a wonderful addition to the Harry Potter franchise.

I saw the movie first. It was horrible. So cheesy and not up to Harry Potter standards for me. Then, I read the book. It was okay, very factual. Kind of cute and short, nothing great.

I loved the movie. Although it feels a bit weird without Harry, Ron, Hermoine or Dumbledore and co. I liked that Johnny Depp is cast as Grindewald. Can't wait for the next movie.

I like the first movie and I am hoping that the sequel surpass the first one. I am actually excited to watch it because Dumbledore is now included in the story and Johnny Depp is casted as Grindelwald. :D :D

The movie is better than the book on this one. The book reads more like an encyclopedia than fiction while the movie was very exciting from the very beginning.

I only watched the movie but I can’t wait for the second one to come out. I don’t know if I want to read the book yet.

Thanks for that info. I won't bother looking for a copy then.

The book was great as a kid, because it helped me feel more immersed in the Harry Potter world. (I also had Quidditch Through the Ages).

I'm excited for the second movie of the Fantastic Beasts series, because of the time period, location, and characters (young Dumbledore? heck yes!)

I liked the movie. It's definitely a worthwhile addition to the Harry Potter world. And we get to see Grindelwald and a young Dumbledore in action in future installments.

My only wish for the Fantastic Beasts series base on what I read from the original short book it was semi based on, is that the movies actually focus on the magical beasts of the wizarding world! The title suggests that we'd be a Steve Irwin like introduction into the world of terrifying magical creatures, something that Hagrid could be the host of, and instead!

That is not what we get. Which is fine, many others are enjoying the new take on the Harry Potter world and series. I am just a bit miffed.

I loved the fantastic beasts movie. However, the sequel was a huge disappointment. Hopefully, the next movie will be much better .

I've seen both the Fantastic Beasts movies now, and I must say I'm very confused as to how I feel about them. I feel like in context with the Harry Potter movies, there are many inconsistencies that annoy me. however, if I ignore these (which is very difficult) then they are quite good movies, the first being a lot better than the second IMO. I do feel like there was a lot less effort and thinking put into these than the Harry Potters, but I've got to love Newt and Tina and the beasts.
