Generally, my poetry tends to be written around sad/depressed themes. I don't write poetry as much as fiction, and it's usually when something upsetting happens in my own life that I feel the need to write poetry. They're usually quite pensive and reflective, as I tend to feel that way when something has gone wrong.

I write the most poems when I am sad or when I find myself struggling with life. I do write ones when I am happy or wanting to express gratitude, but mainly writing has become my outlet from so much chaos and hurt that has happened in my life.

I am the same way. When I am facing challenging situations, something sad has happened, I write it out. It sometimes even makes me feel better to get it out.

It matters with what am feeling and how am feeling when writing.

Hi

I believe my poems tend to be romantic. But quiet melancholic with a hint of loss and pain.
But at first they seem neutral only by the end you realize they are truly sad.

My first collection of poems was titled "The Sweet Book of Hatred."

But even so an adviser reproved me, saying he detected a "compassionate soul lurking behind the malevolent veneer." We had a good laugh over that, down the road. Wasn't hearing it at the time.

I like to think I've mellowed with age and that's reflected in my evolving poetry.

The style/tone changes with moods and settings but if I find myself stuck in a certain groove I make a point of just cranking in the opposite direction as an exercise to clear the mind.

These 'forced' writing don't have to be good or polished. I just file them to be looked at as rough outline way, way down the path..

Mostly, my poems are sad but there were times that I am in the mood to write about mental health and self help.

My poems are mostly painful and sad and nostalgic. I don't really feel happy poems. I love poems about Love too.

I tend to write poems that are about heart brake or sadness. There are a few happy ones that a write it really very from day to day, on the mood I am in and what has happend on that day really.
