This is one of those books in which I was blown away by the subject matter and am looking forward to reading the whole book. She takes on the one child policy, which means that if a family has more than one child they must choose the one to keep. So cruel! It is going to be an interesting treatment of such a subject matter and how it effects not only the birth parents in their grief but so much more, in the child who is given away, always wondering why. Then, the child left behind asking why he or she was chosen to stay. Also due to the make up of that society in favoring boys, it is usually the girl that gets rejected. Oh, so much pain on many fronts!

Its not good liking one child than the other or saying d boy child is more better than d girl child.its better to take care of your children yourself so they can be who you want them to be.

It is very sad that even in the 21st century many societies or cultures around the world still discriminate among male and female child. These societies claim that child is a gift of God then why not accept and cherish the gift equally. Is it not challenging the almighty they believe in. Imagine the height of hypocrisy of societies worshipping a female diety and engaging in female infanticide. How do you eradicate the gender inequality completely? How to you drive sense into such people responsible for the declining male -female ratio creating an imbalance in nature.
