What movie didn't you initially know was a book?

Happened to me with 'The Maze Runner'. Since I really enjoyed the movie I was so excited to find out it was a series.

Typically for me, I like to read the book first and then watch the movie. In all reality though, I usually end up liking whichever one I experience first just because that's my first impression of the story. Whichever one comes second it's like "Hey, that's not supposed to happen like that." Very rarely do I like the movie and book equally. The book Room by Emma Donoghue is a good example of an equally powerful book and movie, each with their own techniques to tell a beautiful heart-wrenching story.

I do love finding out there's a book behind a movie; though, since I keep up with books more than I do with movies, this doesn't happen to me very often. I actually want to read the novelization of the live-action Beauty and the Beast that came out last year. I want to see how they put the movie into a book, which is the opposite of what usually happens.

I watched 'The Da Vinci Code' first and later found out that it was based on the book which was surprisingly as good as the movie, maybe better.

Watching a movie and finding out there's a book! Awesome! Just like when I watched"Think like a lady, act like a man" and I visited a friend and saw it, i was like wow! It makes me understand the movie a whole lot bera.

OMG same! especially if I didn't like the movie. Once i heard there's a book, I immediately go look for it!

Since I always prefer the books to watching the movie, finding out that a movie, especially the one I find interesting, has a book will be good, it will make my day.

When I was in middle school, my english teacher told us that she went to The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring at the movie theater, and, when it ended, she was like: "WHAT?! You can't end a movie like that!" Apparently, she didn't know it was a series... How she made it into teaching english without knowing about Tolkien's most famous works, I'm not sure.

Yes, I always like learning something I actually enjoy is a book, but that can be dangerous because then the book might undermine the film or series that I once loved.

It doesn't happen often, but it happened with Gone Girl! Somehow I managed to not hear about the book until I'd seen the movie, and it was so good that I got really excited when i realized it was based off of a book.

Its fine but sometimes its a disapointment like finding out about the book "no country for old men" after already seen the movie felt like there was no point even if its better.

Read clockwork orange before seeing the movie, love the book more.

I have recently just started doing this, watching a movie or hearing about a movie and then finding out that a book exists. I love to be able to read the story, since movies never really do a good book justice. I have found a lot of new authors and series this way.

When I enjoyed a film and discovered there is a book of it, I usually get myself a copy and read it. Because most of the times, books are better than the movie adaptation and I actually prefer reading.
