I prefer paperbacks. They're way easier to read and take around with you. Also i love the feeling of a book that is well-loved and has a few signs of wear - which is easier to tell from a paperback than a hardback.

I don't mind which, but if there's a series they all have to be the same cover, and I only take paperbacks out with me to read throughout the day.
Hardbacks look professional and I love them, but they annoy me because they're bigger than the other books and they make the shelving layout asymmetrical, with some tall and some medium. Argh!

Since my Mum bought me every new Haruki Murakami book with hardcover I like them more. It just looks better on the shelves as well.

I must say Paperback. But that is only because I have to travel a lot for work. It is just easier with a lighter book. :tiphat:

I love both. I tend to take paperback books with me more often. And paperback tend to be smaller so that I can fit more on my bookshelves.

Paperback because it's not heavy to carry. Hardcover just adds extra pounds.

Paperbacks always. But hardbacks do remind me of Christmas a child when I would always receive a set of hardback books, as they were regarded as treat.

If and when I can afford it, I will always try buying the hardcover version.

Hardcovers look nicer on my shelves, but paperbacks are more comfortable for me to read. Hardcovers just get too heavy and bulky and it starts to feel like a work out.

I LOVE hardbacks, but I usually end up getting paperbacks because they are cheaper.

Hardcover, for sure. I always feel fancier and classier! But, paperbacks take up less space on my bookshelves and are much cheaper, so it depends.

It doesn't matter so much for me - I save up for nice editions with supplemental material (e.g. notes, forwards, comments from other authors, multiple books bound in one volume) regardless of hard vs soft and get books from the library until then.

I like to get my absolute favorite books in hardback, so they stay nice. That being said, if I'm just grabbing a new book to read, I tend to go with paperback. It's so much lighter and fits better in my bag.
