The pleasing aroma in the room gives calmness to the mind. Sigfried's Smelly Socks portray the result of having an untidy room. Len Foley's book Sigfried's Smelly Socks belongs to the children’s genre. This book will enrich the child’s character while growing up. Len encourages everyone to keep the room tidy and clean.
What is your reaction when there is a terrible smell? Sigfried is trying to find what is the cause of the smell in his room. He found his book with a stack of chewing gum, slice pizza, and peanut butter. Is it the book making the smell? He thought his pizza might cause the smell that was stacked in his book. A diaper from his sister named Piper was very disgusting, but the diaper is not the cause of the smell. He looks under his bed. He found the kinds of stuff that keeps on bothering him. Why this stuff causes a terrible smell that burns up the hair on his head?
This book makes me realize that children mimic the things they have seen. Children learn from their parents at a very young age. They are very observant. They tend to follow what the parents do. How can a father or mother discipline their children when they are having the same issues of untidiness? The lifestyle of the child matters on the child's guardian. Who is the one to be blamed? This problem is halted when the child is being taught at an early age. Parental supervision in the house is necessary because children will become responsible.
I like the story because it is short and full of fun. Reading audibly along with a child is a bit more fun. It is easy reading and entertaining. I enjoyed reading the rhyme words such as Piper and diaper, read and bread, and, lose and nose. The pictures also add excitement to the readers. It easily captures the child’s attention. I recommend this book to all parents who have kids because their children will learn how to put things correctly.
I refuse to have a negative comment because the book flows well. Children will easily understand and enjoy the book. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Len taught the readers and the listeners on how to become responsible for managing their room. The socks are very important in our daily lives. But dirty socks must be managed correctly when used.
