Switching tenses is one of my bad habits as a writer. I would like to see and read a successful use of the switch to enhance the reading experience. Perhaps it will help me either fix the habit or refine it.

Are we not going to talk about the dragons, or lack thereof?! Please tell me that the book has at least some reference to them, and that the title has a point?! Otherwise, why not "a book without dragons, vampires and witches"?!

The title peaked my interest and your review stoked that fire. It might be something I have to pick up the future, if I can get back tense switching. I usually am not a huge fan of when authors do that. Hearing there's a reason for it may make it so I can read through it. I think if I picked it up on my own, without a review, I'd probably just put it down.

This book sounds really enjoyable. It's one I can easily see enjoying as a movie. I like the example you provided of the author's wit. I find that that kind of humor can serve as comic relief. Great review. I really want to read this one now.

Such an interesting concept for a novel. The tenses being narrated by each character differing has me interested to put this book down on my to do list! Great review!!

The cover caught my interest right away, what with the title being A book without Dragons and then having the shadow of a dragon on it. While the review doesn't mention dragons, I am still interested in the book. Technology and what would happen with the sudden absence of it is one of those things that always interest me in sci-fi novels. I also am curious as to the tense switching with the characters - I'm not sure I've seen that done (or at least done well) where I was happy with it but you seem to be pleased and that in itself makes me interested. Thanks for the review!

Your review was through and intriguing. I like that you addressed that the author switched between different points of view. Normally that is a turn off for me, but you explained the author does it for s reason. It would be interesting to read about a society which slowly loses the technology it is dependent upon. I'll definately add this to my shelf to read in the future.

I've been looking at this one for awhile, but couldn't make up my mind if I actually wanted to read it. Your review has convinced me to give it a chance.

The fluctuations in tenses shouldn't bother me as long as it fits with what is happening. What really has my curiosity piqued is: What do dragons have to do with anything?

Great job on the review. 💕

This is book for brave readers only. The five main characters are written in separate tenses and writing styles. But if you can handle jumping from past to present, first to third – you’ll find there is a reason for it... Just as there’s a reason for the title... Just as there’s a reason why technology failed in the first place.
