And Then I Met Margaret is an empowering novel, written by Rob White. Told through twenty one different stories, Rob White brings to light our myth's vs. realities. Rob White is a successful former teacher, entrepeneur and motivational speaker. In each chapter of And Then I Met Margaret, he summarizes a time in his life where he learned a valuable lesson from a guru, and how he used that knowledge to help someone else.
I was very intrigued by this book because I wondered if it could keep me interested through it's entirety. From the introduction to the epilogue, I was hooked. His compelling stories and honesty felt relatable, each guru left an impression on him to interpret as well as for the reader. I enjoyed this book because it felt like a very honest read; he talked about his failures and insecurities, which made me more compelled to read about his journey. He spoke fondly of life; which makes you want to open your eyes just as wide and see what he sees. I found that some of the realities and myth's were very similar to one another, but they shared great messages and allowed me to interpret them in my own way. I enjoyed reading about who he met next and what wisdom they would be bestow upon him, but often wondered how he could always choose to see the light instead of the dark.
I loved reading this because it was different than most others. Told through twenty one different stories, I found my own connections to his realities. It allowed me to open my mind and draw comparisons to the things that are happening in my daily life. His optimism is truly inspiring, and if you're seeking an optimistic opportunity to widen your horizons and disregard any narrow-minded thinking, this book would be good for you.
This book would be recommended for anyone of any age who is looking for some new insight. Reading about positive encounters, or life changing encounters can inspire people to behave similarly. Reading his outcomes from nothing fitting in while in university or his struggles with leaving his teaching career; allow you to relate to his words. He tells you his concerns, his worries and keeps it light and honest. And Then I Met Margaret felt like a conversation with a friend.
I would rate this book a 4 out of 4. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have already recommended it to a few others who need a little light through a dark time. The stories were compelling, the writing was realistic and it overall I was excited to read it. It was a light and easy read, and something I enjoyed reading.
