I loved the detailed setting, and agree that the characters are very well developed. I’m glad you enjoyed the novel!

The book is interesting especially since it focuses on overcoming odds to fit in a particular environment. 3 out of 4 stars.

Leaf has always been a bullied orphan at the mage school, unable to control even a single element. When he manages to pass his test, everyone is shocked. That single event propels Leaf and his Crimson friends down a dark path that no one could fathom, requiring more than just blind luck to survive. The legend of Brimstone haunts all of them; will they be able to save a civilization on the brink of destruction?

While initially I thought oh great another Harry Potter knockoff, I was pleasantly surprised by the plot and pacing of End of the Last Great Kingdom, and found myself hoping to read more in the series. While I thought the ending journey was wrapped up a little too quickly without the detail of the rest of the book, on the whole it was a solid story that didn’t hesitate to incorporate some darker, less pleasant aspects of war and occupation. If you enjoy fantasy this is a good pick up.

I really enjoyed "End of the Last Great Kingdom"! I especially liked that the hero, Brimstone, was an anti-mage rather than a real mage. He had to fight with his wit and his strength and his real strength was that he wasn't affected by the magic of others.

I’ve read reviews that compare this novel to Game of Thrones, but I’ve not personally read or watched it. I feel like I should, though. It’s generally my go-to genre for books.
I am a big Game of Thrones fan. I have not read the "End of the Last Kingdom" just yet. But due to the reviews and comments I just read, this might just be my next read.

This is a quick, enjoyable and easy read.I found this one interesting. The characters are well developed and have you rooting for good things the whole time.I really did like the author's great imagination and storytelling skills. But i did not like the ending , it was a bit rushed.

I like that he was an anti-mage, also (love the term, by the way, I’ve never heard it before). It set him apart from the others.
