The books can be quite dark. I enjoyed the film's though, I do want to read them again or watch them all again.

I absolutely loved Hunger games books. The movies were not bad considering it has to be crammed into two to two and half hours.

I really loved the books since I first read then found out about the movies though I would say the films don't do justice to the book. The films are less exciting than the novels and one might not be interested in reading after watching the movie though I believe most films don't do justice to the original plot from the books. I would always recommend one to read before watching a movie.

Both the books and movies were great, but the movie has time limitation and other narration issues, unlike books. I think the problem occurs when we read and see both, so our mind feels uncomfortable about the difference.

I think reading the book ruins the movie (being entertained by it) because it raises your expectations. I think starting from low and rising is good, watch the movies, then read the books for a higher threshold of entertainment.

I have always been of the opinion that the movie doesn't contain everything as present in the book...... What can you expect from a 2 hour movie as compared to a 250 page book

This was one series where I binge read the series before watching the movies. While the movies do justice to the story, the books provide an additional insight into the characters and their stories. While watching the movies, I was eagerly waiting for certain scenes to come up to see how they were portrayed as compared to the books and was not disappointed. Would definitely recommend to anyone that is a fan of the YA, dystopian genre.

Unfortunately, cutting out a lot of the book is commonplace in movie adaptations. Think about how long it takes to just read a book. If everything was portrayed the movie would be several hours long. There has been a recent trend in making two part movies to help compensate for that problem. Then audiences complain about the cliffhanger and the wait.

Yes, Julie Ditton. I absolutely agree with you on this. However, I think movie makers should also focus more on delivering adaptations which capture the essence of the text and meet the expectations of the audience.

I enjoyed the first book and movie. It seemed like the author was pressure into making a trilogy and the books seemed a bit forced, in my opinion. They were okay, but I was never tempted to see the sequels as movies.

I got into the books and movies when I was younger and to this day, I still appreciate them. If I were to read them today, I don't know if I would find them as enjoyable as then, but I'd still keep them in good memory.

I think it's very interesting that people who read the books first loved them and then were disappointed by the movies, whereas people who saw the movies first loved them and then were just blown away by the books. It definitely says something about the advantage of watching the movie first - you get the best of both worlds.
