How is the title's theme sprinkled throughout the text?

Post by Heidi M Simone »

There are many examples that show Sarah is Strong Heart throughout the read. One way I can think of is when she complained and was against camping/hiking the first time they went out, but was still able to push herself to complete the task even after her "lost" eight days.

How else do you think Sarah proves to be Strong Heart here?

One of the ways was how she continued rowing even when she was hurt, hungry and thirsty. She didn't complain but just kept doing what she could to stay alive.

I agree. She was also strong when dealing with the abuse, the survey group, and her new circumstances.

Sarah also acted as a protector during her 'lost' time. She stood up to, and defeated, wild animals when other members fled or froze. She was a very determined girl.

You're right. Everything that she did was a reflection of Strong Heart's past.

After the hiking trip, she learned how to make throwers and practised with them. She learned via Google but applied the experiences from her vision too.

After her eight-day loss, she insisted on walking back and refused to ride in the helicopter even though she was fatigued and injured.

That was a good scene and it showed the strength of her character.

She also removed the tethering rope from her body while searching for the spear thrower in the deep narrow hole. Such guts!

The author said that he was going to name the book, "The Spear Thrower." So this scene is definitely a reflection of that title.

good point. It is always difficult when it becomes physically straining.
