Books that have made you cry?

The book that made me cry is Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. It is a great book and I've really learned a lot from it. It is just made me feel sad and shed a tear about the death of one of the main characters. He have so much more to live for but can't escape death due to his illness. The character really provided meaning in living once life to the fullest and learn to appreciate what you have. There are many life changing lessons that you can learn from it.

A few books have made me cry, but the one I can remember about right now is "Black Beauty'' by Anna Sewell. That book is one of kind. It will take you through so many lives, that it will make you stop and re-think everything about your life; how you treat people - why, how they treat you in return and many more. You will have the great opportunity to see through the eyes of a beautiful horse, it will show you that the beauty can't always guarantee you the best in life. And the most important - it will show you why human are the worst animals of all, of course, the ones who refuse to be actually humans and are lost in between a human and an animal.

I always end up crying when I get to the end of a series. For me, it was The Lord of the Rings. I don't think Harry Potter made me cry though. I also cried at the end of Redwall and Narnia. I guess it's just that sense of ending that really makes me feel emotional. Of course, there have been many stand alone books that have made me cry.

I cried when I completed Marjorie Morningstar by Herman Wouk. I don't remember crying again till I had completed The True Story of Hansel and Gretel by Louise Murphy. The first is an old book, published circa 1955. The second is relatively new, published in 2003. Both are incredible and haunting.

Even though I do usually get fully immersed into books I read, it's rare that I actually cry over them, probably because my preferred genre is horror/thriller/supernatural.

Gone With the Wind, however, seems to be the exception, as I cry every time I read it, which has now been about 5 times. I also cry every time I see the movie, which has been no less than 20 times.

I also shed a few tears during the book I just finished reading - and reviewing - yesterday, Blood Moon Over Africa; even though I knew deathes were to be expected since it's a supernatural thriller, I was still touched by a couple of them and let loose with a little bit of eye water.

I'm a wimp. I cry at the drop of a dime. The last book to make me cry was Enemy Women by Paulette Jiles. It was a bitter-sweet ending.

There are many books who made me sweat through my eyes. But the book that intensely did was "Bridge to Terabithia" by Katherine Patterson. It's a tragedic story of friendship, however, I like how the main protagonist, Jesse, was able to resolve the feeling of emptiness marked by the death of his friend, Leslie. It's a must-read!

I'm not a big Ayn Rand fan, but her first book, We the Living, made me cry. It was so sad. Much more like the Russian lit I love and nothing like her work after she came to America. Just a totally different kind of book.
